Linda’s Challenge 2011: The Ultramarathon
Linda Norgroves life was a remarkable one and filled with many achievements in facing the challenges she met. So it seemed fitting that our key fundraising event in 2011 should mirror this in some small way.
Over six days from 11 to 16 July 2011, Rhoda Bamsey, one of our volunteers, has run an ultra marathon across the whole of the Western Isles, the chain of islands also known as the Outer Hebrides, off the north west of Scotland. The Western Isles is where Linda Norgrove grew up.
A distance of approximately 160 miles so Rhoda has run the equivalent of six marathons in six days to raise much-needed funds for the Linda Norgrove Foundation.
Rhoda was joined by Brian Hindson and John Conway, the Foundation's volunteer website developer, who completed the same route on bicycles.
If you would like to get involved with the Foundation you can do so by making a one-off donation, a regular donation or by setting up a fundraising event. Check out our Virgin Money Giving page for details.
